Jajarkot: Flights in the Karnali region of Nepal have been severely affected for the past two days due to continuous bad weather and heavy rainfall. The disruption has impacted flights to and from airports in Juphal (Dolpa), Simkot (Humla), and Talcha (Mugu).

The ongoing heavy rainfall has led to poor visibility and unfavorable weather conditions, preventing flights from operating safely. As a result, people have been stranded in various locations, and essential travel and transportation have been significantly hampered.

Rajendra Thakulla, an engineer from Thulibheri Municipality in Dolpa, shared his frustration about being stranded in Nepalgunj due to the flight disruptions. He mentioned that he has been waiting for the flights to operate for two days and expressed difficulty in traveling by road as well.

In these remote mountainous districts of the Karnali province, where most of the roads have been damaged due to monsoon floods and landslides, flights play a crucial role in connecting people and transporting goods. However, the adverse weather conditions have further exacerbated the transportation challenges faced by the local population.

Even though Dolpa is connected by road, traveling by road during the rainy season remains risky due to increased water levels in rivers and streams. In the case of Humla, which is not yet linked by road, the situation is even more challenging.

The disruption in flights due to bad weather has underlined the vulnerability of these remote regions during the monsoon season, impacting both travel and the transportation of essential supplies.
